Juan’s Basement Live
This series was based on the old Pitchfork series, Juan’s Basement. The twist, we would be live-streaming everything, including the end interview, meaning we would have some quick resets with our small crew. Shot in the basement of Juan Pieczanski, Juan’s Basement covered many live acts in a space much smaller than any of them should be playing, offering a different viewpoint of these bands than their usual setup on the big stage.
This was our first taping of Juan’s Basement Live, and even though it has a few kinks its one of my favorites that we did in this series. I ran the lighting, technical directed the livestream and worked on the final edit of the show. We went pretty extreme with the color patterns in this set to match the aesthetic of John Maus’ 80s tinged music.
HOMESHAKE was a fun show to shoot in the basement. Their laidback music and attitude allowed us to try a more intimate approach than most bands. For this project, I helped setup the lighting, finalized camera placements as well as settings, technical directed the livestream and worked on the final edit of the show.
